The Vancouver Harbour Flight Centre is the sea plane terminal in downtown Vancouver.
The seaplanes go to many destinations such as Victoria, Nanaimo, Whister, and Seattle among many others. There are lot of destinations along the coast of BC because seaplanes can land on the water and do not need a landing strip on land!
The seaplane terminal is located at the end of the Vancouver Trade and Convention Centre .
There has been a seaplane terminal in Coal Harbour for many years. This is a new seaplane terminal as of 2010 that was built as part of the building of the Vancouver Convention Centre for the 2010 Winter Olympic and Paralympic Games in Vancouver.
The main airlines that use this terminal are: Harbour Air Seaplanes, Whistler Ari, Saltspring Air, Seair Seaplanes, and some charter airlines.
In 2019, Harbour Air announced that they were planning to be the first airline in the world to commercially fly all-electric planes! They are taking their Beaver aircraft and putting electric engines on it. Basically, the weight of the batteries will replace the weight of the fuel. After the Beaver has been proven to work they will look to make their Otter aircraft electric as well.
